Imaging Workshop: MRI in axial spondyloarthritis & ILD chest CT

Date: Thursday 6 September
Time: 0800-1700
Location: Room 303A, KEC
Cost: USD 450

MRI WORKSHOP: MRI in axial spondyloarthritis

This MRI workshop will through short didactic lectures and long interactive sessions focus on the basics of MRI examination of the sacroiliac joints and the spine in diagnosis, monitoring and prognostication of patients with axial spondyloarthritis.

The workshop will be at a basic to intermediate level.

Didactic lectures will briefly discuss normal anatomy, MRI technique, appearance of the most important MRI pathologies and the differential diagnoses.

The interactive sessions will include display in Power Point of selected pathologies and differential diagnoses for evaluation and voting.

The interactive parts will also include review in full MRI scans, and allow the partcipants to answer and discuss relevant questions around most important pathologies, diagnostic considerations and assessment of therapeutic effect.

Learning objectives:

  • To know the basic anatomy of sacroiliac joints and spine.
  • To know the most important MRI sequences used for MRI of axial joints in axial spondyloarthritis and differential diagnoses.
  • To know the most important pathologies in sacroiliac joints and spine in patients with axial spondyloarthritis and to be able to recognize these and changes therein.
  • To know the most important MRI differential diagnoses for MRI in axial spondyloarthritis.
  • To know the indications and limitations of MRI in axial spondyloarthritis.

MRI WORKSHOP: MRI in axial spondyloarthritis

Pulmonary involvement is not uncommon in collagen vascular disease (CVD) or connective tissue disease (CTD). High-resolution CT (HRCT) of the chest plays an important role in detecting subclinical findings and characterization of interstitial lung disease (ILD) in CTD because of excellent radiologic-pathologic correlation between HRCT and gross pathologic findings. This session focuses on a comprehensive introduction of variable interstitial pneumonia (IP) and pulmonary vasculitis after reviewing the important CT terminology and anatomy relevant to ILD.

This workshop will be at a basic to intermediate level.

Discussion of normal anatomy and pattern approach of HRCT in ILD, specific radiologic-pathologic correlation of several major pathological forms of CTD-ILD as well as imaging pulmonary vasculitis in CTD will be included in this session.

Learning objectives:

  • To know the current CT technique and terminology in evaluating interstitial lung disease (ILD).
  • To be familiar with HRCT anatomy relevant ILD.
  • To know the major and important pathological forms of CTD-ILD.
  • To know variable manifestation of pulmonary vasculitis in CTD.
