Dr Rebecca Fischer-Betz, MD, PhD

Rebecca Fischer-Betz is Deputy Director of the Department of Rheumatology at Heinrich-Heine-University Hospital in Düsseldorf. Her undergraduate studies were at Westfalian Wilhelms University (Germany) and Boston University (USA). She took up a residency at Heinrich-Heine University Hospital in the departments of endocrinology and rheumatology before being appointed to her current position.
Dr Fischer-Betz’s primary research interests include women`s health and pregnancy in autoimmune diseases. She has a particular interest and expertise in the care of patients with rheumatologic diseases and runs specialist joint clinics for Women with autoimmune disorders before and in pregnancy. She has contributed to over 80 publications and text book chapters in this field. In 2015, she has established the national pregnancy register RHEKISS together with the German Rheumatism Research Center.
Dr Fischer-Betz sits on the Board of the German Rheumatology Society and is Chair of the Pregnancy in Rheumatic Disease Study Group. She is member of several Steering Committees of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and delegate of the EULAR Standing Committee on Clinical Affairs (ESCCA).
